Blog Resurrection in the AI World
It has been a long quiet stretch since this site last felt alive. Not abandoned exactly, more like a piano with the fallboard down. Lately I’ve been reading Alan Walker’s biography of Chopin, and something about that patient, obsessive attention to craft made the silence feel wrong. If Chopin could revise a mazurka until it breathed, I can at least give this little corner of the web another breath.
So: resurrection. Same Street Spirit (sporadic pianist, continuous engineer), but a new stack, cleaner URLs, and pages that don’t depend on a dusty Create React App build marooned on S3. I rebuilt it the way I like to build things now: Markdown for posts, a small Node API, React on the front. Familiar pieces, rearranged.
And yes, AI helped. Not as a ghostwriter for my voice, but as a tireless pair programmer for the boring-brilliant parts: scaffolding TypeScript, migrating old articles out of a source map, and getting the site to feel like itself again. The words about Chopin, the why of bringing this back: that’s still me at the keyboard. OK Computer!
In this new-fangled world, Radiohead taught me to love a command line that feels like a mood; Chopin taught me that revision is love; AI, for now, is a studio assistant that never gets tired of npm run typecheck. If this post is short, that’s deliberate. The site is awake. More mesh soon.
Speaking of Chopin: I’m currently practicing the Berceuse, Op. 57 (the lullaby) for Flower Piano at the San Francisco Botanical Garden later next month (September 10–20, 2026). Here’s a recording I’m living with while I learn it:
